is the City of Platte City governed?
|

With
a Mayor and Board of Aldermen. The Board of Aldermen is made up
of 6 individuals elected by the citizens of Platte City. The City
is divided up into three Wards. Each Ward has two representatives
who serve alternating 2-year terms. The Mayor is also elected
by the citizens of Platte City and serves a 2-year term. The Mayor
is responsible for chairing the Board of Aldermen meetings and
sub-committee meetings, and serves as a member of the Planning
and Zoning Commission. Although the Mayor does not have an active
role in day to day operation of the City, he/she is kept advised
to any pressing or ongoing matters and assists City Staff in resolving
them. The Mayor appoints from the Board members, two advisory
Sub-committees, Public Works and Public Safety. They meet and
discuss issues involving those two departments on the first Monday
and Tuesday, respectively, of each month at 5:30 p.m. |
