The Platte City Police Department was established in 1931. Today the department has grown, along with the City, and is comprised of the Chief of Police, one lieutenant / detective, three sergeants, six patrol officers, eleven reserve officers, and an administrative secretary.
Members of the Platte City Police Department perform a variety of functions for the citizens of Platte City. They patrol the city, provide written documentation of incidents and offenses, conduct investigations, and provide other law enforcement support as necessary.
The Platte City Police Department is located at 900 Fourth Street. The lobby is open Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for walk-in reports, report reproduction, liquor cards and licenses, and other police business. The third Thursday of every month (except holidays), the Platte City Police Department will host Beat Meetings, beginning at 6:30 p.m. These meetings are open to the public, and enable the public to interact with law enforcement to help facilitate the resolution of issues they may have within the Platte City community.
