The City Clerk provides the following functions:
- Assists the Board of Aldermen in the conduct of Meetings
- Prepares the Board of Aldermen, Board of Zoning Adjustments, and Planning and Zoning Meeting agendas
- Keeps the journal of Board of Aldermen, Cemetery Board, Board of Zoning Adjustment, and Planning and Zoning Proceedings
- Authenticates and records all ordinances and resolutions
- Edits and prints the City Code
- Certifies the validity of City documents for court evidence
- Attests to signatures on contracts and proclamations
- Applies the City Seal when appropriate
- Administers oaths of office
- Maintains a record of membership on all Board of Aldermen appointed Boards and Commissions
- Writes and types ordinances and resolutions
- Authenticates, signs and attests deeds for the Platte City Cemetery
- Transcribes the minutes of all Board of Aldermen, Cemetery Board, Board of Zoning Adjustment, and Planning and Zoning Meetings
- Works with the Platte County Board of Election Commissioners in the handling of elections for the City
- Receives all Formal Bid submissions to the City of Platte City for various City Projects.
- Maintain's all public records available and provides public information in accordance with the Missouri Sunshine Law.
- The City Clerk is the Custodian of Records
