Building Permits

Listed below are the various building permit and sign permit applications. All building permit and sign permits require a 24-hour advance submittal. All fees must be paid before a building permit is issued.

Commercial Construction all new commercial building must be reviwed by the Planning and Zoning Commission Site Plan Review.

Residential Construction - Single Family or Multi-Family building permits must be accompanied by a building lot survey.

Fence, Shed Misc. - Fences require a permit but there is no fee.

Business and Peddlers Licenses

Every person, entity or corporation doing business within the City limits of Platte City is required to obtain a business license. Business licenses are renewable the first of each year and are prorated throughout the year. The fee for most businesses is $34.00, Hotel/Motels are charged per unit, Auctioneers pay a $20.00 fee, and Banks are charged $1000.

Individuals who solicit, sell, distribute or peddle goods, wares, or services within the City of Platte City will need to apply for and obtain a permit. Peddler's permits are $50.00 and are good for a continuous twenty-four (24) hours from the time of issuance between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (only two (2) consecutive twenty-four (24) hour permits are allowed)
